THE EASTER DIORAMA™

Actually, The Easter Diorama™ portrays two scenes that are designed and built into one structure. The first scene is the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and two thieves, which are commonly referred to as the "The Good Thief" and The Bad Thief". The second scene is the depiction of the foundation of Christian Faith, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The front of the structure is Golgotha, "The Skull", and it is the mount on which Christ was crucified. The three crosses of the figurines are placed on top of the mount on Ash Wednesday and remain in place until Good Friday at 6:00 PM.

On Good Friday the EASTER DIORAMA™ is turned around with the Sepulcher facing to the front and the stone closed over the crypt until Easter Sunday morning. The solitary cross without the figurine is placed in the hole on top above the crypt until Easter Sunday morning. On Easter Sunday the light is turned on inside the crypt, and remains on (during normal day hours, not permanently) until the Ascension or Pentecost whichever you prefer.

This is our first foray into the world of figurines. The figurines used are the first created for Christmas City Crèche, in the Christmas City, by commission as a work for hire. Our sculptor is Dan Kijak and an interpretation of his creations is in the Artist section. We will expand our Easter Figurine collection to include biblically recognized characters that were present at the Crucifixion and the Resurrection on Easter Sunday morning. These figurines will include Roman soldiers, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, Saint John, the Angel at the tomb, Mary Magdalene and others.

We have selected Easter as the genesis for the development of our figurines, because we are not aware of anyone else, such as Fontinini and DiGiovanni, who are the recognized leaders in the arena of religious figurines, who have established a presence in this particular wide-open figurine market.

All of the Easter Diorama figurines are handpainted in four styles:
Patina, terra cotta, bronze and hand detail. The detail painted figurines are hand painted in vibrant colors that seem to bring the figurines to life.
